Cambridge AS Level Physics (9702) assumes, from the first lesson, that you can already handle a set of core numerical skills without stopping to think: writing numbers in standard form, swapping SI prefixes (nano, micro, milli, kilo, mega) for their powers of ten, rearranging equations before substituting numbers, quoting answers to a sensible number of significant figures, and converting units (including the squared and cubed ones). These are the skills that decide whether AS calculations feel quick or fiddly.

It doesn't test the AS physics itself (you haven't been taught it yet).
