Terms, refunds and privacy

Plain English, and short on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email me and I will answer it properly.

Who you are buying from

CIE Insider is run by Rich Tyson as a sole trader. Payments are taken by Stripe, which handles the card details. I never see your card number.

Prices are set in pounds sterling. If you are paying from outside the UK, Stripe may show the price converted to your local currency, at an exchange rate it displays at checkout and which includes its conversion fee. Whichever currency you see, the amount shown at checkout is the amount you pay — nothing is added on top.

What you get, and for how long

The IGCSE to AS Physics Bridge is a self paced online course of eight modules, each with a drill set and worked solutions. Access opens on 3 August 2026 for everyone who buys during the presale, and immediately for anyone buying after that date.

The modules are downloadable. That is deliberate: it means "yours to keep" is a promise I can actually keep, independent of any platform. Download them and they are yours whatever happens to this website later. If I ever have to retire the hosted version, I will give everyone who bought it a final download link first, with reasonable notice.

I may improve the modules over time. Improvements go to everyone who has bought, at no extra cost. I will not remove material you have already paid for.

Cancellation and refunds

That is more generous than the law requires, and it is deliberate — I would rather you tried it than agonised over it. For completeness, here is how it sits alongside your statutory rights:

• UK consumers buying online have a statutory 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. For downloadable digital content, that right is normally lost once you start the download, if you agreed to that at checkout.
• I do not rely on that exception. My policy above applies for the full 14 days regardless of what you have downloaded or watched.
• Nothing here affects your legal rights if the course is faulty, not as described, or not delivered.

If you bought the live tier at £99 and decide the live sessions are not for you, tell me and I will refund the £60 difference and move you to the self paced tier.

Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually within five working days.

Live sessions

The live tier includes four sessions in August 2026. Live places are capped at 25 so that everyone gets a word in and everyone's work gets looked at. The cap is on live attendance, not on how many people can buy the course.

Every session is recorded and the replay goes to everyone on the live tier, so missing one costs you nothing but the chance to ask in real time. If I have to move a session, I will give as much notice as I can and the replay still goes out. If I ever cancel a live session outright and cannot reschedule it, I will refund a fair share of the live premium.

Session times are confirmed to the live tier in early August. Times are set in UTC.

What you may and may not do with the material

When you buy, you get a personal licence to use the material for your own study or your own teaching. You may print it, annotate it, and keep it forever.

You may not resell it, upload it to a file-sharing or homework-answers site, or redistribute it to people who have not bought it. If you are a teacher who wants to use it with a class, email me — I would rather sort out something sensible than have you guess.

I keep the copyright in the material I wrote. Cambridge past-paper questions, mark schemes and examiner reports remain the copyright of Cambridge International Examinations and are referenced under the usual educational terms.

Free tools and the email list

The trainers, the readiness check and the blog on this site are free and always will be. Some of them ask for an email address after a few minutes of use. That is the deal: free tools in exchange for permission to email you.

You can unsubscribe from any email in one click and the free tools keep working. I do not use unsubscribing as a reason to lock anything.

Privacy: what I collect and why

What I collect

• Your email address, if you give it to me, plus which tool or form you gave it through and which topics you have clicked on. That is stored in Kit (formerly ConvertKit), my email provider.
• Your purchase details, if you buy, stored in Stripe. I see your name, email and what you bought. I do not see your card number.
• Your progress in the free trainers — scores, attempts, which paper you last opened. This is stored in your own browser's local storage. It never reaches my server, and clearing your browser data deletes it.

What I do with it

I email you about Cambridge Physics revision, and about my own courses. That is it. I do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or pass it to anyone outside the two services named above.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time to tell you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely, and I will do it within 30 days. Unsubscribing is instant and self-service; deletion needs an email so I can be sure it is you asking.

Honest limits

This course teaches the numerical skills Cambridge AS Physics assumes. It is preparation, not a guarantee. No course can promise you a grade, and I am not going to be the one who pretends otherwise. What it can do is make the arithmetic automatic so your attention is free for the physics.

I am a Cambridge trained examiner and I have marked both 0625 and 9702, but I am not speaking for Cambridge, and nothing on this site is an official statement of how your paper will be marked. Always check the current syllabus and your teacher's guidance.
